Survival for Poets

(G)LISTEN

“Listening” and “Glistening” are excerpted from Motion to Chill.

LISTENING

A glacier’s communication takes practice to sense. It is so familiar, almost as though it comes from inside your own body. Listening for the glacier’s communication invites you to listen with your whole body. Listen to the temperature. Listen to the colours. Listen to the many forms that water and wind take as they collaborate. Listen to the many shapes that glacial temporalities carve. Listen to move.

GLISTENING

Go outside.

Listen for glaciers past, present, and future.
