Om kurset

This is a creative writing course taught in ASL (American Sign Language), where students write short stories inspired by Deaf culture and sign language under the guidance of a teacher, Elsa Björnsdóttir. Each student works entirely at their own pace. There are no time limits, deadlines, or performance requirements. The goal of the course is to enrich and empower Deaf culture and sign language.

This course is part of Multilingual Writing LAB, a small-scale partnership project supported by Erasmus+ funding, developed between February 2025 and May 2026 in collaboration between Ós Pressan (Iceland) and Red Door (Denmark), with support from the Erasmus+ National Agency: Rannís, The Icelandic Centre for Research (Rannsóknarmiðstöð Íslands), Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature, and The Ministry of Culture, Innovation and Higher Education through Örvar Fund.
